Welcome
to the web site for Ronald (Ron) E. Myrick.
Ron has a broad background in the IP field,
both inside corporations and with outside
counsel law firms, as practitioner, consultant
and IP bar leader. He has practiced as Chief
IP Counsel for corporations including General
Electric and Digital Equipment and as General
Counsel for corporations as diverse as Mostek
(a maker of dynamic random access memories
and microprocessors) and Otis Elevator NAO.
While he was in outside practice he also
served as “virtual” Chief IP
Counsel for smaller companies without inside
IP counsel and as IP advisor to companies
having inside IP counsel both in the US
and abroad.
During Ron’s tenure
as Chief IP Counsel of General Electric
Company, GE built an IP organization that
achieved outstanding results. For example,
in 2002, GE returned to the TOP 10 in patents
issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office
during that year, a major accomplishment,
reflecting the importance of Technology
and IP to GE. The concepts of 6-sigma process
quality improvement were extended to all
aspects of IP practice at GE and in many
of the law firms that work so well with
GE. Many more innovative approaches improved
cost effectiveness and helped senior management
be intimately a part of the strategic process,
actually making the decisions that determined
how IP is used.
This web site is to provide
basic information for Business and IP management
leaders of businesses and law firms who
want depth and breadth of experience with
personal attention and innovative approaches
to help them meet their challenges in IP
strategy, process improvement, dispute resolution,
transactions and a broad range of other
areas.
